Introducing the Young Family
I have always wanted to be a writer and I am a scrapbook fanatic so I decided I would start a blog. That's one way to force myself to write every day. One day before I die I plan to write a novel. Until then this blog will have to do. Nothing much is going on in my life right now. Just work and taking Aaliyah to school and to the mall and over to a friends house. You get the picture. I am Aaliyah's official chauffer. Okay since going to school to be a court reporter my spelling also stinks. Anyway just wanted to say hello and let you know what is going on in my life right now. Take care and God Bless! Mama Young

It's My Birthday!
Well the Lord has blessed me to see another year and I am so thankful. I won't tell you how old I am because a women should never reveal her age or let's just say I like to keep you guessing. My husband always made a big deal on my birthday and treated me like the queen that I am so since his death my children have taken over the task of making me feel special and they really out did themselves this year. My friends also made me feel special. Sharmina called me early in the morning to wish me a happy birthday and my friend Vicki surprised me by giving me a gift. I tell you what it was a little later. Then all my facebook friends wished me a happy birthday. I tell you a woman could not feel more loved than I did today. My children asked me where I wanted to go for dinner and I decided to try Morton's. I wanted to go somewhere I had not been before and my friend Tshura told me to try Morton's and to tell the kids to make sure they told them it was my birthday when they called to make the reservation. Well when we got there they handed us a menu that said Happy Birthday Sheila! Lol! Then they came to our table and took a picture of and put it in a picture frame that said Morton's on the front of it. I think we are going to use this picture for our christmas card this year. Tshura told me what was good on the menu so I pretty much stuck to that. The french onion soup was really good like she said and so was the bread. Then my children gave me my gifts. Eddie got me a gift certificate to Archiver's and Kristina got me a charm for my Pandora bracelet. My friend Vicki also got me a Pandora charm. I guess great minds think alike. My father sent me money like he always does and it was greatly appreciated. My mother however forgot it was my birthday and did not call until a week later to say happy birthday. I am an only child so how she forgot is beyond me. In spite of my mother forgetting my birthday I had a fabulous time. My daughter Kristina who has her Dad's sense of humor said that we are not taking any more suggestions from Tshura because Tshura has expensive tastes. My son who is usually the cheap one said what the heck you only live one I am going to enjoy myself. Kids you gotta love them! Thank you my babies for one of the best days ever. The icing on the cake would have been if my husband was here to share this day with us but I believe he was there in spirit. Oh yea and I got my Spring Fling Cake too. God is so good! Thank you for blessing me with such wonderful children. Until next time take care and God bless!

Happy Birthday Eddie
This post is late since my son's birthday was July 27th but I thought I would share some stories about my oldest child. Eddie came into this world on July 27th at 5:19am in Boston, Massachusetts. He was born at Brigham and Women's hospital. I was in labor for 5 hours but most of that time he was stuck. It was those broad shoulder's. He was stuck for 3 hours and the doctor finally said look this is too much we are going to do a c-section ( my greatest fear) and she scared the baby out of me. Lol! He dropped so quick they were rushing down the hall throwing scrubs at my husband. Lol! When we got to the operating room there was a team of pediatrician's there because Eddie had passed a bowl movement and they wanted to be sure there was nothing in his lungs. He will probably be like Mom TMI! Anyway he came into this world kicking and screaming at the top of his lungs. This kid was comfortable where he was and didn't want to come out. The doctor's took him to make sure he was alright and then handed him to me. He was the most beautiful baby I have ever seen. He was absolutely perfect. I held him and would not let him go. Well that turned out to be a mistake because when we got home he wanted to be held all the time. He never slept and wanted to eat all the time. I was so sleep deprived I looked like a zombie. It is a wonder I have any other children because Eddie was such a demanding baby. As he got older he turned into this curious little boy who was always getting into trouble. He also had the best sense of humor. I think he got that from his Dad.
Some Eddie stories. The one that really sticks in my mind was when he was around three years old he locked him and his Dad out of the house. My husband was downstairs in the basement doing the laundry and Eddie came down and said Daddy we're locked out of the house and his Dad said no we're not. Eddie said yes we are. Well my husband checked and they were locked out. They went outside and my husband is worried because Kristina is asleep on our bed and he is afraid she will fall off and get hurt. Well thank God for nosey neighbors because the neighbor offered to call the fire department. Well they came and they were trying to figure out how to get in the house and decided to use their ladder to go through the window on the second floor. As the fireman was climbing up the ladder my husband said Eddie got this concerned look on his face and yelled out "You be careful going in there my toys are in that room!" Lol! That was my son. Gotta love him. Another time in the same house I was in the kitchen washing dishes when someone rang my doorbell. I opened the door and there was a little girl at the door that lived down the street. She said lady your kids are outside in their pajamas. I said no they're not. They are upstairs sleep. She said they are sitting over there on the curb. I look and sure enough Eddie and Kristina are sitting on the curb and Eddie is reading to his sister. I was so upset. I didn't know that they knew how to open the door and I didn't even hear them come down the steps and open the door. I'm thinking my neighbors are going to call child protective services on me because I am a neglectful mother. Well my neighbors never called so I guess they understood. Thank God. There are many more stories that I could tell but I will leave it at the two I've told. Well that curious little boy that was always getting into trouble grew up to be the most intelligent, kindest, loving son a mother could ask for. And he is the best big brother ever. He takes such good care of me and his sister's. I thank God every day for the wonderful son he has blessed me with. My husband and I have three wonderful children and although my husband is no longer with us I know he is looking down from heaven smiling saying good job Eddie, Kristina and Aaliyah. Love you Eddie!
